Dream Team NBA Captain Options – Week 8

By
Updated: December 7, 2021

Well, week 7 yielded absolute carnage for players missing games this week.  Luka, Giannis, Adebayo, George, Ball, Porzingis, Morant, Lebron, Lillard, Booker, Giddey, Porter Jr, Green and others I can’t quite remember off the top of my head missed time and the average scores this round reflected this with only 1 player scoring about 900 with daylight coming 2nd.  Still, we must press on and during this time it should provide us with some decent downgrade opportunities as the silver linings.

Players to consider, even as 1 week rentals.  Ish Smith, has big shoes to fill with Ball out due to covid, he is basement priced and should be a popular trade target and will certainly end up with a negative breakeven after this week so you can stash him on your bench for another week or 2 thereafter.  Other fringe Hornet players like Martin could be a good option as well.  Adebayo is out for at least a month, so Dedmon is due to get a massive increase in workload.  Terrence Davis had a big week for the Kings whilst they had a few injuries, he too is priced low at $3.44M and will earn cash for another week or 2 as a downgrade target.  Garrison Andrews, Gary Harris and Gabe Vincent are in a similar boat.  Spur players should also be on your shortlist with their 5 game schedule this week.  Dejounte Murray and Derrick White are the best players to consider, I know I am bringing in at least one.

For our top scorers, Jarrett Allen stood out from the rest with 145 points and Brandon Ingram looks extra tempting after scoring 125 and bottoming out at $10.61M, but he doesn’t play 4 games in a week now for 5 weeks, so look elsewhere.  Jae’Sean Tate pulled a 117 out of nowhere, with Their moving to the bench as the Rockets look to go slightly smaller, his rebounding numbers will go up whilst he is their starting PF.  Stalwarts Gobert, Valanciunas and Jokic all managed to tonne up as well in a week where only 9 players managed to reach this feat

Captaincy Considerations

The schedule is a little thin again this week, but we do have our top premos back playing 4 games this week (barring injury)

  • Dejounte Murray is near averaging a triple double this season and his form continues to grow into all-star calibre performances.  For me, he is a must to trade in and would be a great option to bring in for Ball.  He should go 130+ this week

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo is still listed on the injury report, but I’m not too worried and think he won’t miss much more time after a game off this past week and a few extra days to rest coming into this week.  He will be back to his best no doubt

  • Joel Embiid has been a bit quiet this year, but after time off due to covid, he should have some match fitness back under his belt and look to be getting that average back up near 30 fantasy points per game.  He should easily tonne up this week

  • Luka Doncic is also under an injury cloud and listed DTD.  The game off did seem more precautionary and not expecting him to miss any further time, a score of 120+ on the books if he gets up.

  • Nikola Jokic is just about the surest thing going currently, tonning up from just 3 games this week, Denver have an 8 game fortnight and is a must this week and will likely go 130+

  • Kevin Durant has certainly cemented himself as the number one option in Brooklyn, one of only 5 players this year averaging above 30 fantasy points this season.

  • Jarrett Allen deserves a spot after his massive outing this past week, can he repeat the dose?  The Cavs are suprising quite a few as they sit in the 7th seeding right now, he could very well be a sneaky POD at just 3.9% ownership and averaging 28 fantasy points per game

Will’s Captain – Nikola Jokic

I really wanted to consider Murray this week with his formline and 5 games, but after the horror of last week, I want some stability to try and recoup some lost ranking spots, but you should feel confident in finding a captain who can get you 120+ this week
