Dream Team NBA Captain Options – Week 16

By
Updated: April 5, 2021

Another tough outing in week 15 saw average scores plummet below 1000 again.  Personally, I was able to score well with 948 with a doughnut after Beal sat out the week with an injury and didn’t have any active cover.  KAT was my captain again (as I didn’t have my two top choices on my team) and has really shown career best form, ranking number one on the week with 158 points.  Harden and Williamson both missed time with minor injuries, so keep an eye on them early before locking in your weekly lineup in the morning.

Captaincy Considerations

20 teams have 4 games this week, but more importantly, Toronto and Detroit have a 5 game spread.  Whether there are many players worth bringing in this week from either of those teams is another thing.  I wouldn’t recommend bringing in any Detroit player to your on-field side, too many players going through the rotation to really consider any. Fred Van Vleet is listed DTD, so pause bringing him in as well. But certainly have a look at Paskal Siakam, if only as a one week rental.

  • Luka Doncic returned to some reasonably form again with 108 this week.  3 home games this week and outside of the game against Utah, the other 3 opponents are fantasy friendly.  Expect Luka to easily crack the tonne again this week.

  • Karl Anthony Towns is a really showing his fantasy relevance, still at only 5%, I full expect him to go near 150 again with an attractive schedule.

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo could be a rest candidate again, he has had a few games off this season and with a light schedule, I wouldn’t put it out of the realm of possibilities with a back to back midweek.

  • Pascal Siakam purely on the basis of the 5 game schedule he is worth a look, a season average of 24 puts him somewhere around 120+

  • Nikola Jokic is an unsurprising candidate again, with a 4 game schedule, Joker will undoubtedly be back to scoring tonnes.  4 games at home does nothing to hurt his cause either.  The safest pick for captaincy this week for all the obvious reasons.

  • Russell Westbrook is thriving without Beal in the lineup, he had some monster games this past week despite just 3 games he amassed 139 points.  He is my number one trade in target this week and you could do a lot worse

  • Kawhi Leonard’s form has really been growing the past couple of weeks and he has 4 games at home.  120+ is well and truly on the cards this week.  Still sitting a lowish ownership of 10%, certainly would be a POD and an ideal candidate to bring in to your team.

  • Clint Capela will have extra duties in the middle with Collins out injured for a couple of weeks.  He registered the 2nd highest score last week with 151 and his ownership of 1.4% won’t be this low this time next week.

Other potential candidates include Bam Adebayo, Nikola Vucevic, Jimmy Butler, Rudy Gobert and Domantas Sabonis.

Will’s Captain – Russell Westbrook

Russ’ form has really shone through for me, no more resting and nothing for Washington to aim for other than to stat pad for Russ.
