Dos’s Stat Sheet Stuffers Week 16!

Updated: January 29, 2018

Unfortunately, one of this year’s NBA Fantasy beasts is done for the season.

Starting the week with the most impressive stat-line of his career (and indeed the fantasy season) – DeMarcus ‘Boogie’ Cousins exploded out of the blocks in week 15 with a ludicrous 44-23-10 triple-double against the Bulls (to go with 4 steals and 1 block).

Cousins, averaging 33.3 Fantasy ppg this season – good for 4th best in the RDT format – enjoyed another big night against the Rockets on Saturday, notching a triple double before rupturing his Achilles tendon in the final 15 seconds of the game fighting for a rebound.

Thanks for an incredible fantasy season Boogie, all the crew at OTLS wish him all the best in his recovery.

There’s two options that stand out above the rest this week on the fantasy captain circuit.

Russell Westbrook is fresh off a gigantic week, which saw him as the #1 NBA fantasy scorer; notching 154 points in week 15.

A 46-point outing against the Hornets, where Westbrook shot an uncharacteristic 65.5% from the field (he’s at 44.6 for the season), and a standard stat-stuffing triple double against the Pistons, ensured the Brodie continued his sizzling January form.

In January, Russ is averaging 28.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, 10.2 assists, on a much-improved 49.7% from the field and 36.4% from deep.

The only thing Russ could do wrong in week 15 was get in the way of first time All-Star and Twitter extraordinaire, Joel Embiid – who threw down this nasty hammer on the reigning MVP:

While Embiid acknowledged the 122-112 loss to Westbrook’s rampaging Thunder outfit – who recorded their 8th straight W – he was quick to give fans a look at the best angle of his new poster:

Giannis Antetokounmpo on the other hand, presented fantasy coaches with a challenging decision last week, when he missed his last game of week 14 and was pegged in to miss at least one more game in week 15.

Thankfully, those coaches who held onto the ‘Greek Freak’, despite his maximum of 2 games for last week, were handsomely rewarded, with those 2 games being extremely productive.

Giannis returned to action with a 41-13-7-2-2 stat line against the Brooklyn Nets in 33 minutes action…it’s safe to say that sore knee was holding up just fine:

The 23-year-old is putting up MVP-calibre numbers in his 5th season in the league, while leading all players in RDT NBA Fantasy with 35.5 fppg.

Both the Brodie and the Freak are going to have big weeks on the fantasy circuit, with my edge going to Giannis due to his season long consistency, particularly in shooting numbers.

Have a look at their schedules ahead to help make your decision:

Antetokounmpo: PHI, @MIN, NYK, @BKN.

Westbrook: @WAS, @DEN, NOP, LAL.

Karl-Anthony Towns

Fantasy ppg: 30 ; week 16 schedule: @ATL, @TOR, MIL, NOP.

A few fantasy friendly matchups here should see KAT continue to score well and bounce back after a week where he scored slightly below his fantasy average for the season.

Jimmy Butler

Fantasy ppg: 26.1 ; week 16 schedule: @ATL, @TOR, MIL, NOP.

Butler recovered from his knee injury and returned to action against the Nets on Sunday.

As with all players coming back off injury, he was slowly integrated back into the line-up…oh wait never mind, Thibs played him 35 minutes as he went for 21 points (on 4-14 shooting) and stuffed the counting stats as he always does.

Butler has been crucial in the young T-Wolves rise of late, solid option.

Nikola Jokic

Fantasy ppg: 25.8 ; week 16 schedule: BOS, @SAS, OKC, GSW.

Jokic just put up his second triple-double of January in his final game of week 15, with a 11-16-11 stat-line against the Mavericks.

The 6’11” second round pick has been putting up solid numbers all January, with averages of 15.7 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 6.9 assists – establishing himself as arguably the best passing big man in the league.

If there is one reason to stay away from the in-form Serbian, it’s his tough schedule; Denver take on some serious opposition this week.

Ben Simmons

Fantasy ppg: 24.9 ; week 16 schedule: @MIL, @BKN, MIA, @IND.

Simmons bounced back from a horrid outing against the Grizzlies, to make us Ozzies proud on Australian Heritage night with a 19-17-14 monster triple-double – “pigging” it up with a certain fellow fantasy hero watching on:

Victor Oladipo

Fantasy ppg: 25.7 ; week 16 schedule: CHA, MEM, @CHA, PHI.

The 25-year-old sudden star continues to impress in his breakout season.

Selected to appear in his first All-Star game, the Pacers front-man will look to put in some solid performances against some Eastern Conference 8th seed battlers.
