Blues Origin Squad – Fantasy Fallout

Updated: May 23, 2016

Five debutants have been named, with Tyson Frizell, Josh Mansour, Matt Moylan, Adam Reynolds and Dylan Walker all to set to join the Blues Origin squad today.

Panthers forward Bryce Cartwright was initially added as a development player, but has since been removed from the squad due to a thumb injury.

Coach Laurie Daley is yet to finalise his starting line-up and final 17, with the extended squad selected below.

Fantasy/Supercoach fallout

– The biggest surprise is the inclusion of Sea Eagles back Dylan Walker. While Walker and the Sea Eagles hold little value over the trying Origin period, it will mean that in-form Dragons forward Tyson Frizell will miss selection barring injury. The Dragons have a favourable bye schedule with Frizell set to become one of the best back-row options in Fantasy.

– Josh Mansour is poised to debut on the left wing for the Blues. This will no doubt be the final nail in the coffin of many Fantasy and Supercoach owners after an inconsistent start to the season.

– Sharks prop Andrew Fifita may of been at rock-bottom price prior to last weekend’s games. Non-owners will have to bide their time on trading-in the Sharks forward with the Blues selection. Fifita’s last two performances have no-doubt stamped his ticket to Sydney and have put Fantasy/Supercoach teams on notice.

– Trent Merrin has been dropped for Fifita. While the Panthers bye schedule is rough with two early byes, should Merrin miss the entire Origin series, his value will spike after round 15.

– Josh Morris has been overlooked for Dragons’ Josh Dugan and Roosters’ Blake Ferguson. Morris will receive a nice spike in value over the coming weeks with the Bulldogs favourable bye schedule.

– Josh Dugan and Blake Ferguson will likely hold their spots for the entire series barring injury. They are both sells.

– Mitchell Pearce may garner some Fantasy/Supercoach attention following the Roosters first bye in round 12. Should Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds hold his spot, Pearce could be an unlikely fantasy beneficiary – especially for those still carrying dumped five-eighth Jackson Hastings.

– Speaking of unlikely beneficiaries, overlooked Eels forward Beau Scott and Broncos centre James Roberts will be closely watched next weekend.

– Blues prop forwards Aaron Woods, James Tamou, David Klemmer and Paul Gallen are all sell options.
