NRL Fantasy: The article no expert wants you to read!
This will be an unpopular opinion amongst the so called experts in NRL Fantasy circles.
It will attract ridicule and derision, but in the words of someone far more famous …”screw it!”
All preseason you’ve read the stats, analysed form and picked a side. Now you’re trading based on form, comparing defensive versus offensive points scoring and base stats. As a result, many of you are coming to the same conclusion and making the same or similar trades. Teams will become more and more similar as time goes on and every fantasy nrl writer will continue to pump out stats based analysis.
But that’s not how you win NRL Fantasy, if it was then we’d all be drawn at the top of the table. No, the way you win NRL Fantasy is to take a base understanding of the stats and then apply intuition and gut feeling to it.
It’s the only way. You have to make the right yin when everyone else yangs. Otherwise you’re just getting the same points as they are. So when it comes to trades, PODs and smokies, trust your gut, not the opinion of those on the forums or Facebook.
Watch the games, watch the players, see how they’re actually playing and their involvement. Ask yourself is it fantasy relevant involvement, do you get that tingly feeling in your special place when you’re seeing them play……if you are, well that’s not fantasy relevant. However if you’re feeling like that guy is going to score you a HEAP of points, then it might be time to trade them in!
Trust your gut. Just make sure the player isn’t injured or suspended first.
